I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas! My five days off flew by rather quickly!
Friday night my province had an End of the Year Banquet for all of the native English teachers. It was a night full of laughter, food, and good wine. The highlight of the night was the karaoke time, when teachers went up to the stage and belted their hearts out. My friend Christina sang ‘I Wanna Dance With Somebody” and had the crowd on their feet clapping and singing along. Myself along with three other friends made our way to the stage and did the back-up dancing, making up moves as we went along.
Saturday came along and I decided to host Christmas breakfast at my house. I invited over a few friends and we ate french toast, cheesy eggs, fresh fruit salad, croissants, bacon, sausage, and yogurt. Everything was delicious! We watched Love Actually and sat around and enjoyed each other’s company. It was the closest thing to having family around.
Saturday night I headed to Seoul to spend Christmas dinner with the family of a very dear friend who moved to America. Although her family is Buddhist and they do not celebrate Christmas, they welcomed me with open arms and provided me with an outstanding Korean dinner. (I personally think my friends mother makes the BEST Korean food I have ever tasted). There were a lot of dishes that I cannot remember the name of, but they were all mouthwatering and filling. It felt so good to have a home-cooked meal that I went to sleep early that night ^^
Even though it was my first Christmas away from home (and outside of the United States), I was thankful to have good friends to share it with. ~
